Credit Repair And The Recession

Posted by:

An Urgent Need for Credit RepairCredit repair has become a necessity. Prior to the recession you could afford to have blemishes on your credit report; lenders didn’t really care. If your credit score was a little low you would simply pay a modestly higher interest rate. Not the end of the world. But along with the recession came the most dramatic credit crunch ever. It started with mortgage lenders as they scrambled to mitigate risk in their real estate portfolios. Over the following year every other creditor followed in step. One thing leads to another and now millions of people are finding that without some form of remedial credit repair effort they are unable to purchase anything on credit. The Credit CrunchThe severity of the credit crunch has taken many by surprise. In mid-2006 money was flowing freely. The economic froth was beyond anything the world had seen since the roaring twenties. Even then credit repair paid dividends, it’s true, but there was no desperate need. You could purchase a home with credit scores in the low 500s. You might even get an interest rate as low as one percent, albeit an adjustable rate mortgage. But, oh, how times change. Now, for millions of people, the lack of an intelligent credit repair effort can mean no loan at all. And the non-availability of credit can mean real hardship. Just think of something as simple as automobile financing. Can you do without a car? Urban dwellers might get by with public transportation, but that is not the case for most of us.Is Credit Repair for You?Credit repair can change everything, and quicker than you may think. Credit repair can be done by you, but for most people it is worth considering employing the services of a professional credit repair service. A professional service will offer comprehensive clean up and restoration with a focus on credit score optimization. If you are shopping for the right credit repair company, make sure they offer more than just credit bureau disputes. Your goal is to improve your score and make your credit as lender-ready as possible. The right company will produce the right results. How about you, are you a candidate for credit repair? If you have examined your credit reports and imagine that there is little benefit to be had, I would like to share a little information that might inspire you to take a step towards credit repair today.A Lot of MistakesAlmost three-quarters of all credit reports contain errors. Not all of these errors are significant enough to cause major financial disruption, but a lot of them are. How many? According to a series of studies conducted by public interest research groups over the last decade about half of all credit reports include errors serious enough to cause consumers to pay premium interest rates or to be denied outright for loans. To put these statistics into perspective it helps to know that the three major credit bureaus each report on just over two hundred million Americans. Half of the total is one hundred million. That’s a lot of mistakes. Where do you stand? Here are some things for you to consider.Your Credit Repair OpportunityCredit reporting errors are not always easy to spot. You may have multiple errors which could use credit repair attention, and not even know that they are present on your credit reports. One of the most insidious forms of reporting errors is caused by the redundancy of illicit collection accounts. The cause is simple. Collectors buy and sell debt on a regular basis. By law, a collector is supposed to withdraw their reporting of a collection account immediately upon the sale of the debt to another collector. And yet this rarely happens for the simple reason that there is no punishment for compliance failure. Other common errors needing credit repair attention include duplicate accounts, accounts reported as open with balances that are closed and paid, underreported credit limits on revolving accounts, and file merger errors causing other peoples accounts to report on your credit.Reach Out TodayIt’s time to reach out for credit repair help. Shop the internet; call three or four credit repair services before making up your mind. Most legitimate companies offer a free consultation. I suggest that you take advantage of this. You should make a list of questions that you want to ask. Be organized. Think about the issues that are of concern to you. Make notes. It is important to feel comfortable with the company you hire. Take your time and do it right. Your credit repair project is bound to succeed. Good luck!Copyright © 2009 Ian Webber. All Content. All Rights Reserved.

Refresh Your Life with Credit Repair

Credit Repair in Changing TimesCredit repair has the power to transform your financial life and help you meet creditor guidelines. We are in a period of hard economic times. For the last three years lenders have tightened their requirements. Consumers everywhere are finding it difficult to get home loans, automobile financing, and even credit cards. Millions of credit cards holders have been contacted by their creditors and told that their credit limits have been reduced, and in many cases even informed that their cards have been cancelled.Meeting the Challenge Head OnYesterday, the Wall Street Journal noted that credit card issuers will be cutting credit card lines by two trillion dollars in 2009. Credit repair provides a means of restoring, rebuilding, and optimizing your credit reports and credit scores. An intelligent round of credit repair is exactly what these hard times call for. You do not have to sit back and watch passively while the availability of credit becomes a distant memory. Start your credit repair program today and regain the favor of lenders and access to the low cost financing you need.A Complete Approach is NeededThere are three aspects to successful credit repair that you must address simultaneously. You must clean up the content of your credit report, rectify any credit deficiencies you have, and fine-tune your credit for credit score optimization. If you neglect any of these tasks your credit repair effort will struggle, or even fail in spite of your otherwise capable and hard work. Many credit repair programs focus on credit bureau disputes to the exclusion of everything else. And as exciting as it is to see derogatory information corrected, you are likely to face disappointment when the time comes to apply for a loan and you find that your credit scores have not improved and that the content of your report does not meet the lenders requirements. Here is an overview of the three pronged approach that will insure you end up with truly usable credit. The Credit Repair Clean UpCleaning up your credit report with credit repair requires patience and a proper understanding of all of your legal rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. And if you have accounts reported by collectors on your report you must have a working knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and all relevant state statutes of limitation. With the proper tools your job will be easy and rewarding. If you fail to learn the rules you may trigger unanticipated trouble in the form of new collection activity and lawsuits. If you don’t have the time to invest in the learning process don’t worry, just contact a legitimate credit repair service. They will insure that all of the necessary precautions are taken before sending dispute letters to the credit bureaus.Removing Credit DeficienciesRectifying credit deficiencies as part of your credit repair program is every bit as important as cleaning up your credit report. This is necessary for anyone who does not have any open mainstream revolving accounts. Credit cards are the most powerful way of jumpstarting your credit scores. You should have a minimum of two credit cards. Given the state of the credit markets today there is a good chance that you will have to apply for secured credit cards. Secured credit cards are every bit as good for credit rebuilding as unsecured cards. Once you have your two credit cards you need to follow three simple rules to optimize your credit scores. Make your payments on time, don’t pay your balance down to zero, and keep your balance under twenty percent of the total credit line available on the card. As an example, if you have a card with a five hundred dollar limit, you should keep the balance under two hundred dollars.Fine-Tune and OptimizeFine-tuning the content of your credit report for credit score optimization requires some understanding of the FICO scoring model. There are certain types of debt that are favorable for your score and others that should be avoided at all costs. In addition, there is an optimal balance between different types of debt that you should work towards. You may need to open accounts, close others, pay down balances, and understand the pace at which these changes should take place depending on your own credit needs.Picking Your PathDo you need help? You can succeed at credit repair on your own, or you can hire a reputable credit repair service to manage the process for you. Credit repair is a unique task that requires a fair amount of knowledge if you want to produce the best possible results. If you are going to go it alone please take the time to educate yourself. If you are going to hire a credit repair service, pick up the phone and interview a few. Make a list of questions to ask and pick the company that you feel comfortable with. Good luck!Copyright © 2009 James W. Kemish. All Content. All Rights Reserved.

The Fundamentals of Credit Repair Success

Posted by:

You Can Achieve Real Credit Repair SuccessThere are several important issues to consider before starting your credit repair effort. The time you invest in preparation will save you time and effort, and more importantly, insure that you get the results you deserve from your credit repair project. Take a moment, plan your approach, and proceed thoughtfully. You will succeed!Make Your Payments on TimeIf you are currently not able to keep up with your existing obligations, credit repair is not the right option for you. Before starting a credit repair effort your finances should be stabilized and you should be able to pay your bills on time. There is no point in cleaning up your credit report while derogatory events continue to occur. If you are having trouble paying your bills you should investigate other options, including consumer credit counseling and debt negotiation. You should also consider consulting a bankruptcy attorney.Get Your Credit ReportsYou will need all three reports from the major CRAs (credit reporting agencies) for your credit repair project; they are Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. You can get them for free at AnnualCreditReport.com, but I am sorry to say that I advise against this option, as it is difficult and frustrating. And in the end, should you succeed, you will have three credit reports in different formats, and all about as clear to the layman as reading Chinese. I suggest purchasing a nice tri-merged report. They are easily available on the Internet and should cost less than $20. A good investment in your credit repair success.Get Your Credit Scores, MaybeIt seems like a nice idea to obtain your credit scores at the outset of your credit repair project so you can track the progress of this important number. Should you choose to do this, you need to be aware of a controversial battle between the credit bureaus and Fair Isaac Corp, the developer of the FICO scoring model. Lenders purchase FICO scores from the credit bureaus to make loan decisions. The credit bureaus, however, will not sell these genuine FICO scores to consumers. Instead they have created their own scores which are meant to mimic the behavior of FICO scores. Unfortunately, they often differ by as much as 100 points. At the moment consumers can purchase genuine FICO scores for their Equifax and TransUnion reports directly from Fair Isaac at MyFICO.com. A single Equifax FICO score is available at Equifax.com. Experian FICO scores are not available to the public.Read the Fair Credit Reporting ActYou cannot hope to succeed at credit repair without knowing the compliance requirements imposed on the credit bureaus. These requirements are codified in the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Many people starting a credit repair program assume that it is only necessary to spot and dispute the obvious derogatory errors. If you make this mistake you are likely to leave half of your potential improvement untapped. If you take the time to grasp the essential reporting guidelines of the FCRA you will gain the legal leverage you need to get the credit repair results you deserve.Read the Fair Debt Collection Practices ActIf you have any collection issues at all you will need a working knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). This is not a difficult read and will give you a significant advantage in dealing with both active collections as well as dormant collection accounts on your credit report. Armed with your legal rights you will be able to stop collectors from bothering you, force them to validate their legitimacy, provide you with an accounting of the debt, and force them to remove erroneous and outdated entries from your credit report.Learn Your Statutes of LimitationStatutes of limitation define the time limit for collectors to enforce collection of a debt through the court system and are an essential tool in your credit repair arsenal. A statute of limitation (SOL) has no bearing on the reporting period limits that the CRAs are required to enforce. Reporting period limits are generally seven years for derogatory events, whereas SOLs are often as short as three years. When an SOL has expired, a collector has no way to enforce the collection of a debt. This gives you a powerful credit repair advantage; you may opt to ignore the debt with no fear of being sued, or you may choose to negotiate a very favorable payoff.Consider Professional HelpIf you are going to manage your own credit repair effort you must invest the time in understanding your rights and the compliance requirements of all parties involved in the reporting process. But if you decide that you cannot manage the effort it takes to manage the credit repair task properly you should hire a professional. Should you decide on this path I suggest that you write down a list of questions relevant to your case and call several reputable credit repair services and interview them. Choose the company that you are comfortable with and put them to work. Good luck!Copyright © 2009 James W. Kemish. All Content. All Rights Reserved.

Credit Repair and the Credit Bureau Battle

Posted by:

Too Many ErrorsCredit repair serves a real purpose. Credit reporting errors are much more prevalent and costly than most people realize. Over half of all credit reports have errors on them that are serious enough to cause the victim to pay higher interest rates and even to be denied for financing. Credit repair is about finding and correcting these errors, and there is more to it than most people realize.Too Hard to FindMany people dismiss credit repair as a process that requires no more than a cursory scan of their credit reports. Unfortunately, a quick scan of your credit reports will almost certainly leave almost all of the score-damaging errors undiscovered. To tap the real potential of credit repair requires an exploration of the credit reporting guidelines embodied by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). An understanding of the FCRA is certain to reveal a number of surprising and correctable errors. And every error caught and corrected is money in the bank. Why Credit Repair MattersYou might be shocked at the potential cost of impaired credit. You pay interest on the money you borrow, and your interest rates are based on your credit. And it adds up. If you have a mortgage, an auto loan, and a couple of credit cards a damaged credit report could be costing you thousands of dollars each year. A small investment of time today can repay you in a tangible way for many years to come.Sneaky Defensive Credit BureausIf you are going to launch a credit repair project you must adopt a somewhat skeptical attitude towards the credit bureaus. It might be handy to understand that the credit bureaus are not government agencies, nor do they have any status other than for-profit businesses. They each manage billions of pieces of data for over 200 million Americans, and they are not perfect. They are interested in maintaining accuracy, but only to the extent that it is not an economic detriment. You should also keep in mind that they often take a stand against credit repair only because it is in their best financial interest to do so.The Problem with the FTCThe FTC in very justified in their campaign against crooked credit repair operations. The only real caveat here is that the FTC operations and press campaigns against scams can be heavy handed and unhappily omit the fact that, as in every industry, there are good guys and bad guys, and there are many excellent credit repair companies capable of significantly transforming your life. How the Bureaus Manage DisputesOnce you decide to get your credit repair project underway you need to be conscious of the fact that you need to work thoughtfully, and even respectfully, within the credit bureau system. It is essential to understand the FCRA and to focus your disputes in areas that you have leverage, but it is equally important to understand that you will face some resistance. The credit bureaus receive mountains of disputes every day and have the right to refuse to process any request they feel is frivolous. They use this right liberally, and you need to be patient; determined, but patient.Collectors and Credit RepairAnother somewhat recalcitrant group of participants in the credit reporting process is collectors. They are governed by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), and in their interaction with the bureaus by the FCRA, but there are so few repercussions for failure to comply that an amazing number of errors, intentional and otherwise, slip through the cracks. And the unwary consumer pays the price.Winning the Credit Repair Battle with CollectorsWhen it comes to collectors appearing on your credit report, doubt your eyes. Take the time to understand how reporting period limits work, and how collectors reset them causing collections to report many years past their legal reporting limit. And to defend yourself against any active collectors you will also need to understand how statutes of limitation work. When it comes to credit repair a little homework really pays.Professional Credit Repair Services WorkNot everyone has the time available to master the details involved in credit repair success. Nothing can affect your financial life like your credit. You simply cannot afford to do half the job. It’s your credit, and you owe it to yourself to make sure the job is done right. Either invest in a couple of good books and put in some serious study time, or hire someone to do the job for you. Credit repair is all about the details. It’s not hard to get the results if you do it right. Good luck!Copyright © 2009 Ian Webber. All Content. All Rights Reserved.

Credit Repair is an Urgent Matter

What Can Credit Repair Do for You?What can credit repair do for you? The tightening in the credit markets over the last two years has raised the bar so high that millions of consumers are finding they no longer qualify for an auto loan, mortgage, or credit card. The recent focus on credit has also influenced employers and landlords. You can no longer afford to take your credit for granted. You must become pro-active about credit repair, starting today.Getting the Ball RollingStart your credit repair project with a complete assessment of your situation. The starting point is your credit reports. There are three major credit bureaus, Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. Each of the bureaus is an independent entity, and must be examined on its own. You may obtain your credit reports for free at AnnualCreditReport.com once every twelve months, and although the price is right, I would caution against using this free service to launch your credit repair project.Starting With the Right ReportsFirst off, the website, which serves as a hub for the three credit bureaus and requires that you make your request in triplicate, is difficult to use. Many users report that, after a long struggle, they only manage to obtain two of the three reports. And second, when you finally get your reports you will find that they are each in a completely different format, and equally hard to decipher. Not a great way to start your credit repair effort.Invest in Your Credit Repair ProjectI suggest that you shop online for a tri-merged report. There are many available, and may even be purchased directly from any of the three bureau websites. These reports are typically well designed for easy reading and will be a help, rather than a hindrance, for your credit repair task. You can expect to spend about twenty dollars for this report, and if you shop carefully you should be able to get it without committing to a monthly service.Proofread Your ReportsOnce you have your three bureau report in hand it is time to proofread. As crucial as your credit is, it is imperative that you do not short change your credit repair potential by skimming your report. You must examine each and every line for potential errors. And if you find anything that is even slightly questionable, do yourself a favor and give yourself the benefit of the doubt. You should be aware that over half of all credit reports have errors serious to cause the victim to pay premium interest rates on loans. And not all of these errors are obvious derogatory items.Every Little Thing CountsAmong the less obvious credit reporting errors that you should search for in your credit repair effort are underreported credit card limits. Your credit score is heavily influenced by the relationship between your revolving balances and your limits. If a creditor makes the error of underreporting a limit your credit score may take a significant hit. Just remember as you continue your credit repair task that every single point on your score can translate into real money in your pocket, so don’t neglect even the smallest issue.More High Value Reporting IssuesOther reporting problems that might normally remain under the credit repair radar include duplicate accounts, paid accounts reporting with balances, closed accounts reporting as open, and accounts that are not yours. All of these events may seem completely harmless, especially if they are not reporting in a negative manner, and yet they may be costing you serious points. How many points depends on the overall content of your credit report, but it is common for errors like these to add up to over a hundred points. This is enough to get you denied for a loan, or to pay a significant premium. Your patient credit repair efforts will be well rewarded.Sneaky Costly Collection ErrorsOne more category worth mentioning is collections. Collections may be the hardest items on your report to scrutinize. The information often seems vague and incomplete. Here is one thought you can bring to bear in your credit repair effort; if you see a debt reported by more than one collector, one of them should not be there. You should know that when a collector sells a debt to another collector they are supposed to withdraw their account from your credit report. Examine collections carefully. Your credit will thank you.Take Action TodayIn the final analysis, when it comes to your credit repair project, everything matters. Take your time and find every single suspect issue and dispute them with the credit bureaus. If you feel overwhelmed by the process you should consider hiring a reputable credit repair company to do the job on your behalf. Most legitimate credit repair services offer their services for a small monthly fee. Your credit is too important to ignore. Take action today, you will succeed.Copyright © 2009 Ian Webber. Credit information that is negative, erroneous or outdated can be removed by a credit repair company. They work to offer credit repair services to consumers that want to fix their credit. Having good credit along with a good credit report and a good credit score can help consumers go a long way. If they need products or services, they will be able to get credit. Sometimes people have to go that route if they don’t have the money to get what they need. However, they have to know that the credit has to be paid back in a timely manner.
A credit repair company is a business that can legally help consumers to get credit repair services. Most companies will charge a one time or monthly fee. This is so that the counselor can do the work that they need to do in order to help you with your credit. They are very helpful in getting down to the bottom of helping you to fix your credit. If there are mistakes on your credit report that should not be there, the counselor will work to get them removed.
There are times when a consumer tries to get the erroneous or outdated items removed themselves, but the credit bureaus prefer to give them a difficult time during the process. Even if the consumer is correct, sometimes they are still stuck between a rock and a hard place. It may take several tries before the credit bureau decides to rule in their favor. By then, the consumer gets weary and decides to give up. That’s where credit repair services come in. They work to set up a credit repair program for the consumer.
They will look at the consumer’s credit report and with their assistance, point out the items in question. By law, the credit bureaus have 30 days to respond to the dispute. If it is found that the item should not be there, then by law they are supposed to remove it. However, that does not always happen. Part of the credit repair program involves a credit repair services professional to intervene on the consumer’s behalf and get the credit bureau to remove the questionable items. If necessary, the credit repair company will write a letter on the behalf of the consumer and also provide follow-ups to see if they received the correspondence.
The bureaus will usually heed to the request. The rest of the credit repair process can proceed from there. The credit repairs services professional will lay out a plan for the consumer to follow. They must either make payments to the credit repair company or they can get a debt consolidation loan, provided that they qualify. The consumer has to promise to pay off the loan as provided in the agreement.
Either way, the consumer is indebted to the credit repair company or the lender for making payments on a timely basis. It’s important that they not slack off and miss a payment. This could jeopardize them from improving their credit status. It only takes one missed payment and the rest is history. Using credit repair services effectively can keep them on the right track.
Credit repair services have been an advantage for a lot of people. They have been able to restore their credit when they implement a credit repair program. Once you have a record of timely payments, you will be regarded as someone who has regained their creditworthiness.

Why Credit Repair is Important

Posted by:

If you have poor credit, you are not looked at in a favorable light. When you have screwed over your credit and finances, it is time for you to make a change. Your finances become limited because you are robbing Peter to pay Paul. This is not good because you are constantly juggling funds from here to there and getting frustrated in the process. Credit repair would come in handy and you could use the services of a credit repair services professional.
In addition to juggling your funds, you would try to use your credit card to advance yourself some money. Then you can’t use your credit card because it’s up to the limit. In this case, credit repair for you is inevitable. A credit repair services professional will be able to assist you.
There are several reasons why credit repair is important. For one, with your poor credit, it is extremely unlikely that you will be able to get another credit card or a loan. Besides, that would not help you because your credit situation is already moot. Just having that would add more trouble to your credit and financial situation. Credit repair for you would be extremely important in order for you to turn your credit around. Using a professional that is skilled in credit repair services would help you to make the difference.
Credit repair is also important because you need to implement discipline in your situation. It is obvious that your credit has taken a nosedive. In addition to not being able to get more credit, you could be looked at as an outcast. Everywhere you try to get credit from will turn you down. Creditors will quickly write you off because you were not responsible enough to pay your bills and debts in a timely manner. However, using a credit repair professional can help to change that situation.
A credit repair services professional will sit down with you and look at your credit report. They will show you where you went wrong and what you can do to correct the problem. Credit repair is the first step to getting back on track with your finances and your credit. If you want to be able to get credit cards and loans again, then this is the way you should do it.
When you start your credit repair program, part of the reason that you have a bad credit report may be because there are errors that need to be removed. If the credit bureaus refuse, the credit repair services professional can help to solve the problem. They will work with the credit bureaus to see about getting the errors removed. There are some times when credit bureaus are in error. Of course, they don’t always want to own up to it.
Once the credit repair services professional implements a repayment plan for you, It’s up to you to fulfill your part of the deal. The plan will not work for you if you don’t implement discipline and focus into turning your bad credit into good credit. This is why credit repair is so important for you to start as soon as possible.

Credit Repair Services

Credit Repair Services

With the influx of people who are worrying about their credit scores and their finances in general, it comes as no surprise that there are companies out there who are offering exclusive services to clean up or repair your damaged credit. While it may seem like such a simple solution to your credit woes, be warned – some of these companies are not what they claim to be.

Credit repair services claim to repair bad credit marks on your credit history. What you need to find out before committing to a service is how the company goes about making such repairs. There is a big difference between the items on your credit reports that make up a poor credit score and then there are items on the report that are genuine mistakes. If the company tells you then can remove all bad marks – walk away now. No one can remove information that show poor credit activities. To do so would be illegal.

On the other hand, you have the right to look at your credit report and file a request to remove any misinformation. If the credit reporting agency claims they can repair inaccurate information for you, know this – you too can do the same thing for free. All that is involved in this procedure is analyzing your credit report and noting all mistakes. You then have a right to file a complaint with the credit bureau that provided the report. The credit reporting bureau is then obligated to investigate the information from the original creditor within a reasonable period of time. If the creditor responds that the information is indeed correct, your report will not change. If the credit reporting agency gets no reply from the creditor, the incorrect information will be removed from your credit report.

While you cannot remove poor credit activity from your credit report, you can ask your creditors to work with you to improve the information being reported to the credit reporting agencies. They may not all be cooperative but it is worth a try in order to improve your credit score.

For those people who simply do not want to go through the trouble of repairing their own credit reports, there are reputable companies who can do the repair work for you. Be sure before you commit to any one company, be sure they are a company in good standing with the Better Business Bureau and will work with you to truly help you repair your credit score and not just take your money. A good first red flag – if the credit repair agency denies you can do the above-mentioned steps on your own – know that they may not have your best interests at heart as they are not being honest with you. Also be aware and clear of how much it will cost to work with a credit repair company before signing on the dotted line.

Here are some other points that may raise some alert flags:

· Speak to you in terms that seem confusing and “over your head” with no real concern if you understand

· Do not tell you honestly about what your obligations or rights are concerning your credit.

· Tell you that they can repair all bad credit marks on your report.
